Our latest project is proving to be quite an interesting one that's for sure, working with a regular client of ours we're designing the bathroom for a small redevelopment. Standard stuff you might think and for the most part it is, however the client is eager to incorporate as much technology as they can into the task.
This is great for us as there are so many innovative products in the K&B market it's a shame we don't get the chance to do this more often. From motion sensing taps and light switches, through to humidity sensing bathroom extractor fans that come on when you enter the room or when they detect the shower or bath in use. Great for those that love to spend hours in a steamy bath that's for sure.
However it got us thinking what will bathrooms be like in 10, or 20 or even 30 more years, what will the future hold for us? A good question and one that is hard to answer, but one thing is for certain is that it's going to be fun finding out. Technology is everywhere and whilst traditionally the bathroom has resisted the influx of tech it can't hold out for ever, and nor should it.

Technology is wonderfull and in recent years it has started to creep into the bathroom more and more often. Our showers are no longer simple point and spray devices, lately they're becoming just as intelligent as other devices in our home. The once simple extractor fan is increasing in intelligence seemingly weekly, no longer do they need an unsightly cord hanging from the ceiling.
It's only a matter of time before our fans and other bathroom gadgets are fitted with wi-fi. Imagine sitting downstairs finishing a glass of wine off and watching the last few moments of your favourite show. All the time knowing that with just a tap on your phone your bathroom is already filling your tub up with water of the precise temperature. That your fan is ready to come on at just the right time to keep the bathroom free of steam and help fight unsightly mould and condensation. All the while your favourite relaxing music is streaming through the bathroom speakers.
Sounds like heaven, no? We certainly agree and can't wait to see what wondrous technology we can bring to your clients in the future. It is an exciting time to be alive, and we're constantly amazed by what the bathroom boffins can come up with.
We love to hear from you, what do you want from the future of bathroom design?
